Sustainability

TopFit Projects completed the Ichiro Izakaya restaurant at Burwood Brickworks in December 2019. Burwood Brickworks is the first retail centre in the world to attempt the Living Building Challenge (LBC) certification, the most stringent sustainability standard globally. Making our work on this project at the leading edge of sustainability.

To achieve this we needed to work closely with a design team that was capable of taking on such a project, Amy Gray, director of Studio Grayscale and her design team had the ability to take on a project that had never been attempted before.

We spent many months in sourcing materials in conjunction with Frasers Property Australia that had to achieve LBC compliance from salvaged pallets right down to tiles, paint, adhesives, cables, upholstery etc – every single item used to construct the fit out needed to be LBC compliant.

The end result was well worth the effort from all parties involved as we set the blueprint for future domestic/commercial interior fit outs to be constructed in a more sustainable manner.
